School Visits

OIST Visit Program for Secondary and Elementary School Students

OIST is accepting school visit from elementary schools, junior high schools, and high schools. We have a special program for school students.

We encourage all junior high schools in Okinawa to visit our campus.

OIST encourages local high school students to visit the campus to better understand the graduate university's purpose, goals, and activities in hopes of inspiring more young people to consider careers in science and other international fields.

We accept campus visits from all high schools in Okinawa and "Super Science" high schools from mainland Japan.

To arrange for a school visit, please register with the High School Visit webform.

The visit program includes:

  • Presentation "OIST Outlines" (30 min)
  • Research Introduction or Career Introduction (30min)
  • A 30-minute campus tour including the Center Building, part of Lab 1, the Center Court, and the Skywalk.

Duration: 90-120 minutes

Maximum number of participants in one visit: 80

We welcome all elementary schools in Okinawa to visit our campus.

The visit program includes:

  • A Mini Science Talk on topics such as "What is OIST?" and "What do scientists do??"
  • A campus tour covering the Center Building, Center Court, and the Skywalk.

Duration: 60 minutes

Maximum number students in one visit: 100
